Maurice Sendak on The Colbert Report (In Case You Missed It)

I am re-blogging this via biblioklept, because it is awesome.

Maurice Sendak: “There’s something in this country that is so opposed to understanding the complexity of children. (I think I clapped.-CM) I don’t write for children. I write and somebody says, ‘This is for children’…I didn’t set out to make children happy.. or make their lives easier for them.” Colbert: “Do you like them?” Sendak:”I like them as few and as far between as adults. Maybe a little more, because I don’t like adults, like, at all.” Word.
